As a video content company, we’re used to working at a fast pace. We’ve been known to dash around filming people at work carrying out day-to-day tasks, attend conferences where we have to capture all of the action, or even follow a flag from London to NYC (read that story here). But nothing requires quite as much speed, energy and on-the-ball interviewing skills as a live red carpet event.

We were asked to attend the Attitude Magazine Awards in London alongside Virgin Holidays, which sponsored the glamorous event, to put together some social media video footage. Our team greeted some of the world’s A-list celebs as the walked the red carpet and asked them questions about their favourite travel destinations. They also talked openly about important issues such as diversity and tolerance around the world. Chatty Man Alan Carr, TV host Graham Norton, Prison Break’s Wentworth Miller and The Good Wife’s Alan Cumming were all kind enough to stop for a chat and we got some really great footage that Virgin Holidays has been using to promote their involvement with the awards ceremony.

But it wasn’t only beside the red carpet that we were needed. Our work had only just begun by the time all the guests were inside enjoying the presentations (and Prosecco). Blue Juice was responsible for editing the footage so that we could show Virgin Holidays’ viewers what we shot practically as it happened. We turned around the video edits overnight and also swiftly put together Instagram and Facebook edits – the perfect length for social and formatted in the appropriate screen size.

The video content we created and delivered at speed from the event meant Virgin’s customers and followers got an almost real-time view of the live event. And because we delivered on our promise to have everything cut, polished and published in the blink of an eye, Virgin’s marketing team could contribute to the many conversations taking place across social media and in the news the following day.

Our shoot at the Attitude Awards shows that some of the best video content is often produced while we’re still on location or overnight in order for it to have the most impact. At Blue Juice we’re often away, overseas or on-site shooting and editing scenes, events or interviews for clients. For us, these are the jobs that make work so much fun. For our clients it means they start to see value (and views) from their investment in video content almost immediately.
